Is there an easy way to detect the content area?

I have been investigating this bug http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1588182&group_id=9863&atid=109863, although it has also been reported here.

The problem isn't limited to the upper limit, but to any side with a toolbar.

If when using the auidemo, the sashes could be limited to the edges of the content area (docking area) then this problem wouldn't arise.

is there an easy way to detect the edges of the content area? This could then be used within Layout() I think.
