Caption location

Postby mr. A on Mon Jan 09, 2006 11:57 am

Hi,

First I would like to say that wxAUI looks very promising...

I wanted to ask/suggest to add an option to specify the location of the caption window. For example, I would like to have the option to have the caption vertically on the side of the window.

It will also be good to have a window with NO caption (while docked) that will be able to be drag around...

Thanks,

How do you drag a pane without a caption? I'm not meaning to be sarcastic; I don't what you are expecting. :) I do see how a captionless window could be resized (grabbers still there).

wxDockIt has just this feature. :)
wxIFM or wxAUI doesn't have this feature. :(

wxIFM haves this feature. :)

It isn't a perfect world yet.

I know, this is the reason asking to add it in one of the future versions.

By its gripper? Dragging the gripper should /always/ work (it currently doesn't when the pane is undocked).

How can you undock a docked window with no caption?

You can undock a docked window with no caption by dragging it off by its gripper. Perhaps there is some terminological confusion her as (for instance) toolbars do not have captions when docked, but are (obviously) undockable.
