Until wxAUI 1.0 is released, we intend to release 0.9.x versions of wxAUI in semi-monthly intervals. That means that the next release (0.9.2) is coming out soon.

Until that happens, the most up-to-date release is 0.9.1 (which is still under a month old

You can find an entirely unofficial set of patches I use at http://www.alex.org.uk/wxAUI/index.html

It is neither complete, nor guaranteed to work, but may be useful. It has (for instance) patches for grippers on vertical toolbars, and mac support, and psuedo-transparent hints on Linux.
